About the Course Director
Dr Nicholas Syn
Dr. Nicholas Syn is a researcher and educator with an internationally recognized reputation for expertise in advanced biostatistics, meta-analysis, neural networks, and bioinformatics. His work has been published in leading journals such as The Lancet, Nature Medicine, JAMA Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, The Lancet Oncology, and Annals of Surgery. Dr Syn has a H-index of 53 (January 2025) and has published over 300 papers, and was named among the World’s Top 2% of Scientists ranking published by Stanford University and Elsevier for four consecutive years based on calendar year citations in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Dr. Syn also has experience in teaching and mentorship, and is currently an adjunct assistant professor at the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the National University of Singapore. He has organised workshops for over 500 medical professionals in areas such as meta-analysis, bioinformatics, and machine learning. His mentoring efforts have helped numerous students achieve independent success, with many going on to publish in major journals and establish themselves as prominent researchers.
